The Associate Professor
by Ewan Glass
was big on ‘limitations without imitations’ and although he had a good explanation for what it meant, he demurred when we asked
if he’d coined the phrase himself. Plastic-cup-drunk at the end-of-year showcase, he admitted that he first heard it at a conference. When I said ‘imitations without limitations’ he laughed verygoodverygood but a blush rose above the collar of his chore jacket. Four separate people said they saw him when they left the club later, wandering the cobbles of our regional gown town. He looked like he’d been crying.
