Her and the Sun
by Sadie Brown
It’s as if the sun rises
only to shine down upon her,
the prospect of all my dreams.
The sight of her brought light, a yearning
to exist with her.
Then, alongside the sun, reality set in.
Liquid rays of light dripped honey
onto the smooth of her skin.
The kind of woman you keep
a picture of in a locket.
I could see it all;
like skies as clear as the waters blue,
like sunlight beaming off leaves of green,
like highlights dripping
off the dew of morning.
She was beautiful—her and the sun.
